Our Story

In 1863, our family made the journey from the Falkland Islands to farm sheep in Patagonia, Southern Argentina. Today, we honor that heritage with our distinctly Argentine collection of products.

A Legacy of Quality and Tradition

From our traditional leather polo belts to our luxurious carpincho leather designs, and our selection of all-weather hats and accessories, our mission is to authentically showcase Argentine culture to the world.

We hold tradition and quality in the highest regard. Our hat-making expertise in Buenos Aires spans over 130 years, and our leather workshop has been crafting products for over three decades. By handcrafting everything in-house, we ensure our creations are made from only the finest materials, never relying on third-party suppliers who may not meet our exacting standards. After all, “Estribos” means “stirrups” in Spanish, a nod to our deep connection with the equestrian world and our respect for fine leather.

From Argentina to the UK

In 2004, the Smith family moved back to England to expand the business, bringing a little piece of Argentina with us. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of showcasing our Argentine belts, hats and accessories at iconic events like the Burghley Horse Trials, Cowdray Park Polo Club, and Cheltenham Races. Over the years, we’ve seen our cherished and loved by our customers, many of whom have used them for decades. The excitement and passion shared by our community of customers is what drives us to keep doing what we do.

Estribos remains a family-run business owned by Marcus, the founder, and his daughter Sophie.
