Here’s a simple guide to keeping your hat looking its best, whatever the material:
• Waxed leather hats love an occasional conditioner or clear beeswax polish. Apply to a dry cloth first, gently wipe the brim and crown, and always dry away from heat. This keeps them waterproof and extends their life significantly.
• Nubuck suede should not be conditioned. Instead, use Scotchguard or a suede spray as needed. An occasional brush will remove dirt and water marks - always allow to dry naturally.
• Fur felt needs no sprays or treatments at all. Made from 100% natural fibres, they’re built to handle some rain. Let them dry at room temperature and give them a quick brush to remove dust.
• Summer hats aren’t waterproof, so please avoid the rain. A light sponge will lift any marks with ease.
For all hats, we recommend storing upside down or on a hook to help maintain the beautiful shape of the brim: how you leave your hat is the shape it will naturally mould to.
If your hat feels a little snug, pop it over your knee (yes, really!) and give it a gentle tug to open it back up.
